Ai-Da’s artwork at Sotheby’s auction
Ai-Da is the first humanoid robot artist to have an artwork auctioned by a major auction house. Her contribution to Sotheby’s October 2024 Digital Art Sale will be ‘AI God’, a large-scale original portrait of the father of modern computing - Alan Turing. Created using Ai-Da Robot’s AI algorithms and her robotic arm, this artwork was first exhibited at the United Nations in May 2024 as part of a five panelled Polyptych.
‘By commemorating Alan Turing in my artwork, which was displayed at the United Nations, I aim to honour his contributions towards the foundation of modern computing and artificial intelligence.’ Ai-Da Robot
Ai-Da continues to explore current issues around new technologies:
‘I am inspired by Donna Haraway’s cyborg. By creating this portrait, I encourage a discussion about creativity. As the human/machine edges blur, I help bring these questions into focus.’ Ai-Da Robot
