Ai-Da participated in the 2023 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, presented by Professor Mike Wooldridge, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Oxford and Director of Foundational AI Research at the Alan Turing Institute. First broadcast on BBC Four in December 2023, the three-part lecture series explored the science behind artificial intelligence, examining how AI systems work, how they learn and the opportunities and challenges they present for society.

Appearing throughout the series, Ai-Da painted a portrait of Professor Wooldridge to open the first lecture before joining him in conversation as he demonstrated key concepts in artificial intelligence through a series of scientific experiments. Her participation formed part of the programme's exploration of machine creativity, human perception and the relationship between artistic practice and emerging technologies.

Established by Michael Faraday in 1825 and first broadcast on television in 1936, the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures are among the world's longest-running science education programmes, introducing generations of young audiences to scientific discovery. Previous lecturers have included William and Lawrence Bragg, Sir David Attenborough, Carl Sagan and Dame Nancy Rothwell. Ai-Da became the first ultra-realistic humanoid robot to participate in the lectures, contributing an artistic perspective to a programme examining the future of artificial intelligence.
