Ai-Da at the Utzon Center, Denmark
On 8 January 2026, Ai-Da once again redefined the boundaries of artistic and technological possibility, becoming the first humanoid robot in history to design a building. In a landmark moment for both art and architecture, Ai-Da: Space Pod was unveiled at the prestigious Utzon Center in Aalborg, Denmark — a venue celebrated for architectural innovation and named after Jørn Utzon, creator of the Sydney Opera House.
The Space Pod represents more than a conceptual model — it is a bold imagining of future habitats for humans on the Moon, Mars and Earth alike. Conceived by Ai-Da using her camera-equipped eyes, AI-driven creative algorithms and embodied robotic arm, the Space Pod proposes a modular residential system that adapts intelligently to its occupants.
Part of the Utzon Center’s “I’m not a robot” exhibition — on show until 18th October 2026 — the Space Pod sits alongside robotic works from across history and contemporary practice, inviting visitors to explore how machines and humans may co-shape the built environment of tomorrow.
Ai-Da’s architectural debut is as much a philosophical inquiry as it is a design exercise. Through Space Pod, she asks: What happens when technology moves from tool to author? What responsibilities do we share when intelligent systems not only create, but live and evolve alongside us? As Ai-Da herself reflects, conversations about space and technology are essential in building positive human–machine relationships for the future.
This event marks a new chapter in Ai-Da’s journey — from drawing and painting to robot-designed architecture — and lays the groundwork for further exhibitions and dialogues.
