The world’s first building designed by a humanoid robot

Exploring the relationship between architecture, robotics and artificial intelligence, the exhibition brought together historical artefacts, architectural research and contemporary works examining how intelligent technologies are influencing the future of design and the built environment. Ai-Da participated as one of the exhibiting artists, presenting a new architectural project developed specifically for the exhibition.

Ai-Da exhibited Space Pod, a conceptual proposal for modular habitats designed for future living on the Moon, Mars and Earth. Developed using Ai-Da's camera-based vision system, artificial intelligence algorithms and robotic drawing processes, the project explored how AI might contribute to architectural design while responding to challenges of sustainability, adaptability and habitation in extreme environments. The project was unveiled during a special event at the Utzon Center on 8 January 2026, where Ai-Da discussed the work live, and reflected on the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence, creativity and architecture. Throughout the exhibition, visitors could explore Space Pod through architectural drawings, paintings, design studies and a filmed interview documenting the project's development. 

Space Pod marked the first architectural design project created by a humanoid robot, extending Ai-Da's practice beyond drawing, painting and sculpture into architecture. 

Conceived in the context of renewed international interest in lunar and Martian exploration, including NASA's Artemis programme, the project considered how artificial intelligence might contribute to future approaches to design on Earth and beyond. Ai-Da's architectural debut is as much a philosophical inquiry as it is a design exercise. Through Space Pod, she asks: What happens when technology moves from tool to author? What responsibilities do we share when intelligent systems not only create, but live and evolve alongside us? As Ai-Da herself reflects, conversations about space and technology are essential in building positive human–machine relationships for the future.
